The group exhibition comprises 20 artists, with positions ranging from classical modernism to contemporary art, from Aatifi, Georges Braque and Le Corbusier to Franz Marc and Pablo Picasso to Ute Sroka, Mark Tobey, Timm Ulrichs and Woldemar Winkler.
Aatifi's colourful, vibrant ink drawings from the Verve series 2023, 2022 and 2019 will be shown in violet gradations in 55 x 65 cm format, in the colour composition red, pink and yellow in 50 x 60 cm format and in red-violet or red-orange-violet in 47 x 65 cm format.

The exhibition also features the seven-minute documentary film Ink Drawings 2020/2021  by Aatifi, in which viewers can immerse themselves in the creation of Aatifi's works on handmade paper in a calligraphic style.

Ink is the traditional means of expression in classical calligraphy. As a master calligrapher with decades of training and a trained painter with many years of experience in (print) graphics, Aatifi knows the secrets of ink, how to refine the fluid, how to influence the consistency. He uses individual mixtures and self-carved bamboo nibs, and develops his own tools for drawing. The documentary film, made in the studio, focuses on the artist’s working methods; the viewer’s gaze is directed directly to the handmade paper, the tools and the artist’s hands. (maba)
